Subject: AD-2 Outlet Port Check Valve Change

Beginning in March of 1990 Bendix began incorporating a new check valve assembly in

the outlet port of all new production AD-2 Air Dryers. The original AD-2 outlet port check

valve assembly, part number 286868, is now obsolete and superseded by 107454. No

changes were made to the AD-2 shell or check valve outlet port, therefore, both old and

new versions of the check valve are interchangeable in the same air dryer.

The primary difference between the old and new check valve assemblies is that the new

design check valve, part number 107454, is NON-SERVICEABLE and must be replaced

as an assembly. The old design check valve, part number 286868, is serviceable using

maintenance kit 287298. Maintenance kit 287298 is still available and can be used to

service existing 286868 valve assemblies.
