Subject: Automatic Slack Adjuster Changeover Yoke Adapters

Bendix now has available two new extended yoke adapters to assist with retrofit

installation of the ASA-2 and ASA-3 automatic slack adjuster.

Available as a separate service item, the extended yoke adapters are ½” longer than the

standard adapter included with the ASA-2 & 3. The extended adapters are intended for

use when the existing actuator or brake chamber push rod is too short to achieve the

proper automatic slack adjuster installation angle. The installation angle of the

automatic slack adjuster can be adjusted by the depth to which the actuator push rod is

threaded into the adapter. With the new yoke adapter installed in the slack adjuster, the

actuator push rod thread engagement must be a MINIMUM OF ½” and a MAXIMUM OF

1-3/8”. End of push rod may not extend more than 1/8” beyond end of yoke adapter.

Both the standard and extended yoke adapters are illustrated for reference.
